
*Right to vote, fair polls essential in democracy: Karra

JAMMU, Dec 13: A contingent of 1027 Congress leaders and activists from Jammu and Kashmir was flagged off today by JKPCC Chief, Tariq Hameed Karra to take part in the Congress Maha Rally at RamLeela Maidan New Delhi tomorrow against the `Vote Chori’ campaign by Congress party led by LoP Rahul Gandhi.

A number of buses and private vehicles carrying men, women from across Kashmir and Jammu Region was flagged off by Karra alongwith senior leaders from Narwal, Jammu today afternoon.
Working president Raman Bhalla, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former Minister Yogesh Sawhney, former MLC Incharge HQ Ved Mahajan, former MLA AR Rather, DCC Jammu Urban president Manmohan Singh, Kanta Bhan, Satish Sharma and several other senior leaders accompanied PCC Chief.
The Congress activists raised slogans “Vote Chore – Gaddi Chhore”, Chalo Chalo – Delhi Chalo before leaving for Delhi.
Talking to reporters Karra hit out at the BJP Govt and the Election Commission of India for the gross illegalities and irregularities detected and exposed by Rahul Gandhi, right from voter lists to the conduct of elections in various states which has shaken the faith of people in the electoral system in our country. He said that ECI is hand in glove with the ruling BJP and has eroded the creditability of the elections and ECI in the country.
He alleged that ECI has been behaving as the frontal wing of the BJP these days. Karra said that right to vote and the conduct of free, fair and transparent elections is the most precious right of every citizen in a democracy, which has been hijacked by the ruling BJP in this country.
Every citizen must rise to the occasion to safeguard this precious right otherwise the democracy will have no meaning. The fundamental meaning of democracy is Govt by the people, for the people and of the people but it will be meaningless, he added that Congress party especially Rahul Gandhi has taken this step to safeguard democracy and constitutional values.
