RAJOURI, Dec 12: The police seized 17 vehicles for various violations under MV Act during special drive in Rajouri district today.
An official spokesman said that District Police Rajouri in coordination with the Traffic Police conducted a special drive across the district to ensure strict enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act and improve road safety.
SHO Kandi, Rajveer Singh registered four separate cases against passenger vehicle operators for overloading, thereby, endangering passenger safety. As part of a focussed checking initiative, the teams jointly targeted vehicles registered outside the Union Territory that had not been transferred in the name of the present owner.
For violations 126 vehicles were challaned and 17 seized. Among them 8 vehicles were seized for non-transfer of ownership.
