RAMBAN, Dec 10: Police here today arrested two habitual offenders under preventive measures following their continued involvement in criminal activities.
The action was taken to curb repeated offences and maintain public order in the region.
According to officials, Mekash Kumar, son of Suba Ram, resident of Bandan–Sangaldan, Tehsil Gool, District Ramban, has a history of involvement in multiple cases.
He was involved in cases of FIR No. 12/2023 under sections 382, 342 and 506 of the IPC at Police Station Gool, as well as in FIR No. 57/2022 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dharmkund. Police placed him under preventive detention for five days.
Similarly, Ashiq Hussain, son of Mohd Asgar Mir, resident of Salbala Gool, was repeatedly involved in drug-related offences and was accused in FIR No. 45/2013 and FIR No. 88/2023, both registered under section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Gool. He is also booked under preventive action for five days.
Both the detainees were shifted to District Jail Udhampur.
Police has stated that the action aims to deter repeated offenders and strengthen the ongoing efforts against criminal and drug-related activities in the area.
