MUMBAI, Dec 9: The Global Humane Society (GHS), the international arm of the American Humane Society today honoured Anant Ambani, founder of the Vantara wildlife conservation initiative, with the prestigious Global Humanitarian Award for Animal Welfare.
Ambani is the youngest-ever and the first Asian recipient of this globally recognised award.
The award was presented at an international event attended by leading conservationists.
The GHS acknowledges Ambani’s groundbreaking work in evidence-based welfare programmes, science-driven conservation efforts and large-scale rescue and rehabilitation of vulnerable species.
The Society noted that Vantara, under his leadership, has redefined possibilities in wildlife protection and set a new global benchmark for compassionate conservation.
Speaking during the award ceremony, Dr Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of GHS praised Vantara for earning the rigorous Global Humane Certified™ distinction.
She said, “There is no greater champion of this vision than Anant Ambani, whose leadership has set a new global standard for compassion in action.”
Expressing gratitude, Ambani said, “This honor reaffirms a timeless principle sarvabhutahita, the wellbeing of all beings. Through Vantara, our purpose is to give every life dignity, care and hope.”
The Global Humanitarian Award has previously been bestowed upon iconic figures including Shirley MacLaine, John Wayne, Betty White and former US Presidents John F Kennedy and Bill Clinton.
