CB’s SCW files chargesheet against ex-police official in fraud case

JAMMU/POONCH, Dec 9: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) Jammu of the Crime Branch (CB) has filed a chargesheet against a former police official in a cheating and fraud case registered last year.
The accused, Selection grade Constable Mohammad Tahir, a resident of Banola Chhatral in Mendhar, Poonch, has been facing charges under sections 420, 465, 468, 471 of the RPC and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act registered at Police Station SCW Jammu.
Sanjay Parihar, SSP, Special Crime Wing Jammu, said the action followed a complaint filed by a resident of Pathanateer in Mendhar, who alleged that the accused took money from him on the pretext of arranging his appointment in the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
He said the complainant stated that the accused also provided a forged appointment order to deceive him.
The SSP SCW Jammu further said the investigation, led by DySP Javaid Iqbal Tabassam, has been completed and the chargesheet has been submitted before the Court of the Additional Sessions Judge (Anti-Corruption Court), Poonch, for further proceedings.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the Crime Branch stated that it will continue to take strict action against corruption and fraudulent activities to ensure accountability and uphold the law.
