POONCH, Dec 8: District Police Poonch, in close coordination with the Drug Control Department, has taken strict action against a Medical shop involved in the illegal sale of Schedule H1 drugs to local youth.
An information was received regarding one Abdul Majeed, son of Roshan Din, who was running a Medical shop under the name M/S Roshan Medical Hall, at village Haari, near Government Primary School, Tehsil Surankote, District Rajouri. It was reliably learnt that he was selling Pregabalin Capsules (Pregafix-M) to youth without valid prescriptions and was not maintaining the mandatory computerised records as required under the drug regulations.
It is pertinent to mention that Pregabalin is a highly sedative substance and is frequently misused by drug-abusing youth, posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
Taking cognizance of the matter, Police Station Surankote took up the issue with the concerned Drug Inspector. After due verification and completion of the legal procedure, the Drug Control authorities sealed the medical shop and suspended its licence.
