JAMMU, Dec 7: Dr B R Ambedkar Welfare Society, Greater Kailash (Jammu) organized a solemn and dignified programme today on Mahaparinirvan Diwas, to commemorate the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and a global icon of social justice.
The event was held at Guru Ravidas Temple, Jallochack (Ward Number-68) in coordination with Guru Ravidas Mandir Committee, Jallochack and witnessed the participation of society members, local residents, youth, women and respected community elders.
The programme began with floral tributes to Babasaheb and Bhim Vandana, followed by a brief introduction on the significance of Mahaparinirvan Diwas. Members spoke about Dr Ambedkar’s monumental contributions to equality, human rights, constitutional values and the upliftment of the marginalized sections of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rajinder Kumar Samyal (president, Dr B R Ambedkar Welfare Society), highlighted Babasaheb’s message of “Educate, Organize, Agitate” and emphasized the need to follow his ideals in today’s social environment.
The programme concluded with a pledge to uphold the values of liberty, equality and fraternity, as envisioned by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
At Shiromani Sant Kabir Bhawan, Chak-Avtara (Bishnah), the programme draw a large gathering of community members, intellectuals and social activists who assembled to pay homage to Babasaheb and recall his immense contribution to the nation.
The event was attended by prominent personalities, including F C Bhagat, G R Bhagat (IAS), Som Nath (Principal), Mulkh Raj (XEN), Manhor Lal (Inspector), Advocate Satish Vidhrohi, Dr Om Lal Bhardwaj, Chaman Lal Chaman and many others.
The programme also witnessed the participation of children including Mikayla Bhagat, Riya Bhagat, Neha Bhagat, Shaweta Vidhrohi, and Dhawani Bajala.
The commemoration concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, and to continue working towards a more inclusive and enlightened society as envisioned by Dr B R Ambedkar.
