PDD, daily wager, helper electrocuted in Purmandal

Villagers demand compensation, jobs

SAMBA, Dec 5: Two persons including a daily wager of Power Development Department (PDD) and his helper were killed after receiving an electric shock while repairing a High Tension electric wire at Purmandal today.
As per reports the duo fell unconscious after receiving the electric shock while repairing the High Tension (HT) Line in the area.
They were shifted to PHC Purmandal in serious condition where they were given first aid. As their condition turned serious they were shifted to GMC, Jammu where doctors declared them as brought dead.
The duo was identified as Angrej Singh, 35, son of Chattar Singh of Mandal falling in the jurisdiction of Purmandal Police Station and Raj Kumar a PDD Daily Wager, 54, son of Gyan Chand of Moultlian Kalan Purmandal.
It is pertinent to mention here that Raj Kumar was working as a PDD daily wager and was repairing a High Tension wire whereas Angrej Singh was assisting him as a civilian.
The incident sent shock waves in the area and a pall of gloom descended in their respective villages.
The police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law and started investigation. Meanwhile the local villagers demanded adequate compensation for the two families and a Government job to their next kin.
