JAMMU, Dec 5: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at District Police Lines on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Zonal SSPs, SP Operations, SDPOs, DySP DAR, senior police officers, SHOs and Incharge Police Posts of the district.
The SSP reviewed the overall crime situation and directed officers to ensure timely investigation of cases for speedy justice.
He stressed quality investigation, proper disposal of NDPS and property-related cases, completion of inquest proceedings and strict action against absconders, history-sheeters and missing persons.
The officers were asked to ensure timely disposal of cases registered under both old and new criminal laws within the stipulated 60- and 90-day timelines.
Progress on CCTNS, e-Sakshya, SID creation, e-summons and other digital policing tools was also reviewed.
The SSP instructed all officers to mandatorily use Forensic Science Laboratory services as per new legal provisions to strengthen scientific investigation and evidence collection.
He directed officers to keep strict surveillance on drug peddlers and organised crime networks, reiterating the district police’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and organised crime.
He also emphasised full implementation of citizen-centric provisions under the new criminal laws, including Zero FIRs and e-FIRs.
The SSP highlighted the need for polite behaviour, quick response and disciplined conduct while dealing with the public.
He reiterated that there will be no tolerance towards corruption, burking of crime or indiscipline at any level.
Officers were asked to take firm action against those involved in social crimes and ensure both qualitative and quantitative disposal of pending cases.
He also stressed coordination with other security forces, adherence to VDG and Border SOPs, and proper tenant verification without causing inconvenience to residents.
At the end of the meeting, the SSP directed officers to ensure their presence at major roads and junctions during peak hours to maintain smooth traffic flow and minimise public inconvenience.
