JAMMU, Dec 4: J&K unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today strongly raised the long-pending issue of industrial land allotment delayed at the Balole Industrial Estate in Bari Brahmana, in district Samba, after a delegation led by BSP J&K UT president Darshan Rana, along with president of the Small & Micro Industries Association Harvinder Singh, met the Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Dr Arun Manhas.
The delegation firmly expressed resentment over the prolonged failure of the authorities to physically hand over industrial plots to genuine allottees who have already deposited the full land cost and 10% token money as mandated by SIDCO. Despite fulfilling all financial obligations and completing the formalities years ago, the rightful entrepreneurs continue to suffer while significant portions of the Balole Estate remain illegally encroached upon.
Independent reports have already highlighted that nearly half of the earmarked Industrial land at Balole remains under unauthorised occupation and that successive administrations have failed to develop the estate despite repeated assurances and policy reforms under the J&K Industrial Land Allotment Policy 2021-30. Such negligence not only jeopardizes the investments of small and micro-industrialists but also delays employment generation, industrial expansion, and public confidence in government-led industrialisation efforts.
Rana stressed that industries form the backbone of economic growth and youth employment, and any delay in land allotment directly undermines entrepreneurial trust and the region’s economic prospects. The BSP demanded immediate removal of encroachments, accountability for officials responsible for administrative lapses, and urgent possession of plots to allottees without further delay.
A written representation was also submitted to the Director Industries & Commerce, with a call for coordinated action by the Deputy Commissioner Samba to prevent any further harassment to entrepreneurs who have invested their hard-earned money. The BSP cautioned that if timely action is not taken, the party will be compelled to launch a democratic agitation in support of the affected industrialists.
