World Divyang Day: SKK distributes sweaters among students

JAMMU, Dec 2: On the eve of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, also called World Divyang Day, Samaj Kalyan Kendra (SKK) distributed woolen uniform sweaters among the handicapped students, here today.
K B Jandial, president of the SKK distributed the sweaters in presence of V K Padha, B B Magotra, both members of Executive Committee of the SKK.
These sweaters were donated by a philanthropist Rohan, a Goldsmith from Billawar.
Jandial thanked Rohan for his much-needed donation of sweaters at the beginning of winter.
Meanwhile, Kalpana Kala Kendra (KKK) under the leadership of Virender Langoo, organiser during a press conference highlighted several key concerns and demands regarding the rights and welfare of differently-abled citizens of Bharat.
Among the major points, the organization demands issuance of one authorized I-D card instead of multiple IDs for differently-abled persons.
Re-evaluation of the accessible India Project to ensure effective implementation on the ground, installation of Accessible and Talking ATMs across the nation and creation of a National Database of Differently-Abled Citizens, end to discrimination faced by differently-abled aspirants in Government recruitments and appointments, strict adherence to the RPWD Act, 2016 and corresponding rules across all departments, speedy and time-bound justice in cases related to disability rights.
Encouragement and promotion of differently-abled artists through platforms of Prasar Bharati (All India Radio) and Doordarshan, development of fully accessible websites and dedicated helpline numbers for differently-abled persons, promotion of inclusive education at all levels, mandatory sign language training for key professionals, including teachers, doctors, police personnel and frontline workers and adequate representation of differently-abled persons in Governance and policy-making bodies.
The organisers also informed that a complete Memorandum have already forward to Prime Minister of India.
