JAMMU, Nov 29: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today organised a devotional programme at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Bikram Nagar, Karan Bagh, to mark the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
The event began with soulful Shabad Kirtan by Ragi Bhai Amitpal Singh and Bhai Jatinder Pal Singh with their Jatha, who connected the Sangat to the teachings of the Guru through melodious Gurbani. Hundreds of devotees attended the programme and paid homage to the Guru.
The Academy also held a Punjabi Kavi Darbar featuring poets Bachan Bharti, Balwinder Singh, Bhupinder Singh Bhargav, Suraj Singh and Saran Star, who recited verses on devotion, sacrifice and the spiritual legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Senior Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, Popinder Singh Paras, addressed the gathering and spoke about the Guru’s life, teachings and universal message of human rights and freedom of faith.
A book exhibition showcasing Punjabi, Hindi, Dogri and other regional publications was also organised.
The event was conducted by Suraj Singh, while Balbir Singh from the Gurdwara management delivered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with collective prayers for peace and harmony.
