JAMMU, Nov 28: SRM Contractors Limited has bagged the prestigious ET Infra Leadership Award 2025 for “Excellence in Border/Remote/Hilly Region Infrastructure” for successfully completing India’s longest precast cut-and-cover tunnel in Leh.
The project, completed under extremely tough conditions, has been recognized as a major engineering achievement.
A statement said this is the company’s second consecutive ET Infra award this year. Earlier, SRM had won the award for “Excellence in Railway EPC Construction” for building India’s highest reinforced soil wall with railway loading under the USBRL Project.
The award-winning tunnel is located at an altitude of around 12,300 feet in a restricted military zone near the Line of Actual Control and the Galwan Valley.
The project includes the country’s first unreinforced high-strength precast tunnel and uses advanced anti-freeze concreting and rapid modular installation suitable for sub-zero temperatures.
The award was received in New Delhi on behalf of the company by Dr Sanjay Mehta, Puneet Pal Singh, and Neeraj Sharma.
The management said the project showcases India’s engineering capabilities and SRM’s role in strengthening remote connectivity and supporting national infrastructure development.
