JAMMU, Nov 28: The Indian Army started dismantling the temporary Bailey bridge here today after a Government department started constructing the damaged portion of the permanent 4th Bridge over River Tawi.
The 110-feet long Bailey bridge was constructed by the Army in less than 12 hours earlier in September after a section of the vital 4th Bridge over River Tawi was damaged due to heavy rainfall in Jammu district on August 26.
This bridge provided relief to the commuters for three months before the R&B Department announced to repair the damaged portion of the 4th Tawi Bridge today.
“After the R&B Department took up the construction work on the damaged portion of the 4th Tawi Bridge today, the Indian Army has started dismantling the temporary structure,” the DIG Traffic, Jammu Range, Dr Mohammad Haseeb Mugal told reporters here.
He said the unwinding process will be completed in two days.
“As such, the public in general is requested to cooperate with the Traffic Department for the effective management of the traffic in the district,” he said.
