Notorious drug peddler booked under PIT-NDPS Act

JAMMU, Nov 27: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu District have booked a notorious drug peddler from the Miran Sahib area under the PIT-NDPS Act and lodged him in District Jail Poonch.
Police said the accused, Ajit Singh, a resident of Ward Number 1, Simbal in Miran Sahib, has been detained after formal orders were issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
According to them, multiple NDPS cases have been registered against him in the past, and he was recently arrested in yet another case.
Despite repeated FIRs, police said he continued supplying drugs to local youth and remained active in the trade.
According to officials, the accused had managed to secure bail several times, prompting authorities to recommend his detention under the PIT-NDPS Act to prevent further criminal activity.
Following approval of the dossier, the Divisional Commissioner issued the detention warrant, they said.
The arrest and detention were executed by a team of Police Station Miran Sahib, supervised by SP Headquarters Jammu, IH Rather.
