JAMMU, Nov 26: The Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu, in collaboration with DST iTBI-IIM Jammu, organised an Innovation Bootcamp titled “Prerna Se Udyamita Tak” to encourage student entrepreneurship and problem-solving.
The programme brought together experts from IIM Jammu and local entrepreneurs to help students develop creative ideas and understand the basics of innovation and start-up building.
A statement said that the bootcamp offered hands-on sessions on idea generation, innovation techniques, and early-stage business strategies.
Students were guided on identifying real-life problems, shaping them into workable ideas, and exploring Government schemes and incubation opportunities.
The sessions were conducted by Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer, IIM Jammu, and Kannav Padha, Manager, DST iTBI, IIM Jammu.
Local entrepreneur Raman Singh, Co-Founder of Blessings Pads, also shared his start-up journey, showing how community-driven ideas can grow into successful ventures.
More than 190 students and faculty members participated in the event, reflecting GCET’s focus on strengthening the innovation ecosystem.
GCET Principal Dr Sameru Sharma said the bootcamp would help students turn ideas into impactful solutions and support the college’s vision of building a vibrant start-up culture.
Dr Sharma appreciated the Start-Up Cell team, including Prof (Dr) Bhawna Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta, Dr Ajay Abrol, Amit Pandoh, Neeraj Gupta, and the student coordinators, for organising the event.
The Innovation Bootcamp served as an important step toward nurturing young innovators and promoting entrepreneurship as a promising career option for students.
