SAMBA, Nov 26: A grand Unity March was held in Samba district to mark the 150th birth anniversary year of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, where Member of Parliament (MP) Jugal Kishore Sharma asserted that past Governments, particularly the Congress, did not give Patel the honour he deserved for unifying India.
A vibrant procession started from the historic Samba Fort and moved through main market Samba, drawing an enthusiastic crowd. Leading the march, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that Sardar Patel’s monumental role in integrating over 560 princely states was sidelined for decades. He stated that only under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership was Patel accorded due respect, reflected in the creation of the Statue of Unity – the world’s tallest statue.
Sharma added that unity marches across the nation reaffirm India’s collective commitment to unity, harmony, and integrity. “The strong and united India we see today stands on the foundation laid by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s foresight and dedication,” he said.
The event was attended by MLA Surjit Singh Slathia, DDC Chairman Keshav Dutt, DDC Suresh Phalli, DDC & district president Asha Rani, general secretary Baldev Bloriya, prabhari Rekha Mahajan, district general secretaries Amit Dubey and Rajesh Pinta, along with Rashpal Verma, Naresh Amba, Mohinder Bikka, Sanjeev Padha, Sonia Wazir, former sarpanches, panches, senior BJP leaders, workers, and a large number of citizens.
