Srinagar, Nov 25: Minimum temperatures plunged below freezing across most parts of Kashmir on Monday, with several stations recording the season’s coldest night so far.
Details compiled by Kashmir weather, Srinagar settled at -3.1°C, while the coldest temperature in the Valley was recorded in Shopian at -5.4°C, followed by Pulwama at -5.0°C and Pampore at -4.5°C. Pahalgam touched -4.4°C, and the Srinagar Airport area dropped to -4.2°C.
In north Kashmir, Baramulla recorded -4.3°C, Rafiabad -4.1°C, Kupwara -3.4°C, Bandipora -3.8°C, and Sonamarg -3.8°C. Qazigund stood at -3.0°C, while Kokernag was comparatively milder at -0.4°C. Zojila Pass remained the coldest spot with an extreme -16.0°C.
In south Kashmir, Kulgam recorded -1.9°C, while Anantnag reported no observation.
In the Jammu region, temperatures stayed above freezing, with Jammu city at 9.8°C, Katra 9.1°C, and Jammu Airport 9.6°C. However, upper areas like Banihal dipped to -0.5°C and Bhaderwah to 0.4°C.
Ladakh continued to freeze, with Leh at -8.5°C, Kargil -8.8°C, and Nubra -6.6°C. (KNC)
