SRINAGAR, Nov 24: Reaffirming that the shrines of Jammu and Kashmir form the nerve centers of collective spiritual life, Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi today inaugurated a new Multipurpose Complex at the Shrine of Hazrat Aali Ali Balkhi (RA) in Pakherpora.
The project, completed within its targeted timeframe, adds major facilities to the shrine: commercial outlets on the first floor, a Ladies Sabaat on the second, and a Conference Hall on the third. Dr Andrabi was joined by Board Member Dr Ghulam Nabi Haleem, Tehsildar Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer Qazi Mushtaq, Engineer-in-charge Ghulam-e-Murtaza, Imam Molvi Shakeel-ur-Rehman and activist-politician Arshad Bhat, along with several prominent local religious and social figures.
Speaking to the media, Dr Andrabi said the Waqf Board’s mission of infrastructural expansion and management upgradation was progressing with dedication, enabling the institution to meet public expectations through God’s grace and sustained effort. She remarked that only those who had “sold sentiments and looted Waqf resources for decades” were troubled by the Board’s reforms, adding that widespread public support outweighed such negativity.
The Chairperson assured that development across all shrines would continue with greater vigour as part of a broader transformative agenda. Emphasizing shared responsibility, she said, “Our spiritual shrines are our nerve centers, and together we must uphold their sanctity.”
