SRINAGAR, Nov 24: Police today arrested a man on charges of cheating, fraud, extortion, impersonation and using a fake police identity card in Anantnag district.
A spokesperson said the accused has been identified as Aabid Hussain Sheikh, son of Mohammad Hussain Sheikh, a resident of Donipawa, Anantnag. Police said the arrest followed a complaint alleging his involvement in multiple fraudulent activities. “Following his detention, police registered a thorough investigation,” he said.
He described the arrest as a significant development in the ongoing probe, adding that further questioning is expected to reveal additional details about the suspect’s activities. “The investigation is progressing diligently. We urge the public to contact the nearest police station if they have been cheated or defrauded by the accused,” he said.
