RAMBAN, Nov 21: Massive fire broke out in remote Zaradi Neel area of Sub-Division Ramsu here today and damaged a double storey residential house.
Sources informed that fire erupted in a double storey residential house belonging to Mohammad Saleem Naike and Mohammad Ilyas Naike, sons of Abdul Qayoom.
Noting flames coming out of the residential house, locals along with cops from Police Post Neel and Army personnel posted in the area, rushed to the spot and tried to control the blaze using water and available fire extinguishers. However, the double-storey structure was completely gutted before the fire was put off.
An adjoining house belonging to Adil also suffered partial damage though timely efforts helped to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
A fire tender from Fire & Emergency Station Banihal was later dispatched to the area but due to the lack of road connectivity, it took more time to reach the spot. SDM Ramsu, Mazahir Hussain along with SDPO Banihal visited the spot to access the damages.
However, there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the fire incident.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan has dispatched relief material for the affected families.
