JAMMU, Nov 20: All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) today demanded that the Medical College run by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) be given minority status and seats for minority Hindus be reserved in the college.
The AIMCCC which met here, today under the leadership of its president, Desh Rattan and chairman, B K Raina expressed serious concern that out of 50 Medical seats in the college 42 were allotted to members of a particular community while the institute is running on the offerings of Hindu pilgrims who visit holly shrine across the country and abroad.
The meeting made an appeal to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah as well as Union Health Minister, J P Nadda in this regard. It said in view of the involvement of some doctors from Kashmir in terror activities to create large scale disturbances in the country should be an eye opener for the Government and it should take appropriate steps to check the same. The meeting said that the nation can no more afford such anti national activities of doctors who have turned to be white color terrorists.
It demanded that the anecdotes of such doctors serving in various hospitals and medical institutions or undergoing training in medical colleges be checked. There should be proper vigil on their activities at their work places and localities where they are residing so that any such game plan in future is thwarted.
The meeting made an appeal to all political parties to support the demand of declaring Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College as minority institute so that the Hindu students get admission in the college without any hindrance.
The meeting also pressed for constitution of a statutory Board for protection and management of Hindu shrines and temples in Kashmir Valley– a demand being pursued by Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust for about two decades.
