POONCH, Nov 19: The police arrested a drug-peddler in Surankote area of Poonch and recovered nearly 7 gms of heroin from his possession.
Reports said acting on a specific information, Surankote Police laid a special naka near petrol pump at Mirza Morh. During checking, a pedestrian was signalled to stop, and upon frisking, 7 grams of chitta (heroin-like substance) was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Nisar Ahmed, son of Lal Hussain, resident of Potha. He was immediately arrested on the spot. Accordingly, FIR No. 262/2025 U/S 8/20/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Surankote for further investigation.
Preliminary enquiry indicates that the accused is a habitual drug peddler and has been previously involved in multiple NDPS cases.
