BATOTE, Nov 15: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, MoS in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, and Department of Atomic Energy & Space today participated in the ongoing celebrations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Birth Anniversary and Janjatiya Gaurav Divas to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of tribal freedom fighter and social reformer Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Batote in Ramban district.
On the momentous occasion, the Union Minister distributed study material among 38 Tribal Students of Gujjar, Bhakerwal and Gaddi communities drawn from various areas of the district. Additionally, Dr Jitendra Singh gifted farmers of Ramban district with Power Tillers and five Spray Pumps to Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), a central government initiative aimed at transforming the agricultural sector of Jammu and Kashmir through integrated and sustainable practices.
The Union Minister also flagged off a Padyatra commemorating the 151th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel which started from from Forest Hut Batote passing through the markets and adjoining areas to spread the message of national unity among the residents of the area.
The Minister virtually participated in the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwan programme during which Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and paid glowing tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda commemorating his 150th birth anniversary today. A large number of gathering present on the address also listened to the virtual address of the Prime Minister.
Earlier, the Union Minister inspected the stalls established by various sectoral departments highlighting their achievements.
Among others present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, BJP District President Neelam Langey, DDC members of Ramban Smt. Renuka Katoch and Rakesh Singh amongst other senior officers of the district administration.
