Srinagar, Nov 14: Security forces today demolished the house of Delhi suicide bomber Dr Umar Nabi in Pulwama district of South Kashmir and police conducted verification of car and fertilizer dealers to prevent misuse for anti-national elements.

The demolition was carried out during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The car blast near the Red Fort on Monday night claimed 13 lives and injured several others.
Umar was behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 that was laden with explosives. His identity was confirmed after DNA samples collected from the blast site matched those of Dr Umar’s mother.

A video showed the house raised to rubble in a midnight blast. Several adjacent houses were also damaged in the blast.
In the meantime, police today conducted verification drive of vehicle dealers in Budgam, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Baramulla districts to ensure transparency and prevent misuse of vehicles in these districts.
A police spokesman said that police conducted a comprehensive physical verification drive at vehicle dealership sale and purchase points of pre-owned vehicles across the district to ensure transparency in transactions and prevent the misuse of vehicles for unlawful activities.
“Police teams inspected multiple dealerships, physically verified vehicles present at the premises and examined documents related to their sale, purchase and transfer. Officers scrutinized the authenticity of records and the timely transfer of ownership to detect any irregularities”, the spokesman said.
He said the dealers were instructed to maintain complete and updated documentation, including mandatory proofs such as Aadhaar, driving licence and address verification of buyers. They were also advised to promptly report any suspicious transactions or activities.
Police in Pulwama also intensified verification of fertilizer distributors to prevent misuse and irregularities. Special teams of Pulwama Police carried out detailed inspections of sales records, stock registers, delivery documents, and license-related paperwork. “The drive also focused on verifying end-user details to prevent any possibility of vehicles or fertilizers being diverted for unlawful activities. During the inspections, business owners and distributors were advised to maintain updated documentation, ensure fair practices, and strictly adhere to legal guidelines. J&K Police reiterated that any deviation or suspicious activity will be dealt with firmly under law”, he said.
