SAMBA, Nov 14: Mining Department Samba has seized five vehicles including one JCB for illegal mining in Basantar river today.
Officials said that District Mining Officer (DMO) Samba along with team raided at Basantar river and seized five vehicles including one JCB machine which were indulged in illegal mining but other people along with their vehicles fled from the spot.
The raid was conducted under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ayushi Sudan. Officials said DMO Samba, Kulwant Singh received information through reliable sources regarding the illegal mining in Basantar river Samba. He along with his team swung into the action immediately and reached on the spot and seized four tractor trolleys, one Dumper and One JCB machine and handover to Police Station (PS) Samba. However some other vehicles seeing the officials fled from the spot after taking the advantage of the darkness.
DMO Samba, Kulwant Bhau said that, four tractors, one dumper and one JCB seized who were found to be indulged in illegal mining in Samba. He said that the total fine imposed is 9560503 during financial year 598 vehicles/Dumpers were imposed penalty. He warned strict action against illegal mining in Basantar river and other nallahs in the district.
