JAMMU, Nov 14: World Diabetes Day was observed today with great enthusiasm by the Directorate of Health Services Jammu under the guidance of Director Health Services Jammu (DHSJ) Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar and the supervision of Divisional Nodal Officer NCD, Sushma Mattoo.
The Divisional NCD Cell, in collaboration with the Medical Mobile Unit, conducted a screening drive for Diabetes and Hypertension for officers and officials, supported by Dr Rashmi Sharma and her team. A total of 48 officers and officials were screened during the initiative.
To mark the occasion, a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme was also organized at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, with the support of the Medical Superintendent, Dr Narinder Bhutyal. Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar graced the event as the chief guest, while former Director Health Dr Rajeev Sharma attended as guest of honour.
The programme saw the participation of Deputy Director Dentistry Dr Sanjay Sharma, along with physicians, gynaecologists, pathologists, AYUSH doctors, Medical Officers and students. Dr Sanjay Sharma delivered a PowerPoint presentation focusing on oral health concerns in diabetic patients.
Physician Dr Dinesh Sharma highlighted the current scenario of Diabetes Mellitus and recent advances in its management, while Consultant Gynaecologist Dr Amandeep discussed diabetic disorders in obstetrics. Pathologist Dr Arun Manhas spoke on Diabetes Mellitus and its diagnosis, and AYUSH experts Dr Vimal Sharma and Dr Nidhi elaborated on preventive and promotive aspects related to diabetes under the AYUSH system.
