KATHUA, Nov 14: In a tragic incident a grandmother and her 10 year old granddaughter were killed in Lohai Malfar forest after a tree fell on them yesterday.
Both deceased Lilo Devi, 50 and her granddaughter Sunita were residents of Banjali Thal in Lohai Malhar block. The bodies of both were recovered from the forest by family members.
As per family members both deceased were collecting the fire wood from forest. Meanwhile, some people were cutting a tree at same location suddenly the tree fell down on both of them and they died on the spot. The accused three persons fled from the spot and narrated the story to local people. After getting information, parents and local people rushed to the spot and removed the bodies.
The Malhar Police also reached to the spot and took cognizance of the incident. The accused identified as Firdosh Ahmed was taken in custody and a case was registered in this connection.
The family members demanded the fair enquiry into the matter that under what circumstances this incident took place and whether the accused has permission to cut down the big tree from Forest Department.
They demanded the compensation for affected family and stern action against accused. The whole village is in palm of gloom and demanded justice into the unfortunate incident.
