JAMMU, Nov 14: The Law School, University of Jammu, organized an educational and immersive court visit for its 5th-semester students.
The visit was meticulously designed to be procedure-focused, substantive law-focused and skill-focused, providing students with holistic courtroom experience and the students witnessed both criminal and civil sides of administration of justice.
Highlight of the visit was a motivating interaction with Haq Nawaz Zargar, Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu.
He emphasized the non-negotiable values of honesty, integrity and hard work as the cornerstones for excelling in the legal profession.
Going beyond conventional advice, Judge Zargar imparted a crucial skill for any successful lawyer—the art of being a ‘meta-observant.’ He urged the students not to merely listen to what is being said in the court but to critically analyze the ‘how’ and ‘why’—the strategy, the intent and the unspoken nuances behind every argument and piece of evidence.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. Rajneesh Khajuria, Assistant Professor, The Law School and was successfully conducted with the support of faculty members Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Dr. Jameel un Nisa, Dr. Rubia Jalal and Dr. Nitan Sharma, all Assistant Professors at The Law School.
Commenting on the initiative, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Rohmetra, Director of The Law School, stated: “At The Law School, we firmly believe that the future of legal education lies in experiential learning.”
She further said that classroom instruction provides the foundation, but it is in the courtrooms, through direct observation and interaction with the judiciary, that theory truly comes to life.
“This visit is a testament to our pedagogy, which aims to mould not just law graduates, but practice-ready advocates equipped with both knowledge and the wisdom to apply it effectively,” Prof. Rohmetra maintained.
