Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Tarigami said, “We are saddened by the blast in Delhi. Those who lost their lives there-we are sympathetic to their families. This incident is no less than a shock to the people of Kashmir.”
He expressed concern that some of those allegedly involved in the incident are students and doctors. “It is saddening that people involved in this are students and doctors-professionals who treat patients and help save lives. They have a responsibility to serve humanity, not destroy it,” Tarigami said.
The CPI (M) leader said that violence in the name of Jammu and Kashmir has only brought pain to its people. “We are unfortunate to have violence in the name of Jammu and Kashmir. Our experience has shown that violence as an option is not viable. It must be rejected by all of us,” he added.
Tarigami said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have friends across the country and must reject any form of extremism or hatred. “The experience of violence has given us pain. The majority of people in Jammu and Kashmir are unhappy with such incidents,” he said.
He also appealed for calm and restraint, urging the public to remain peaceful and united. “Any community in Kashmir, any point of view, anyone-violence and killing innocents is not acceptable,” he said. He added that while a proper investigation should be conducted, no one should be harassed in its name.
