The operation involved five joint teams from CID Counter Intelligence and District Police, and the Anti-Sabotage Team (AST), under the supervision of CID (CI) Jammu.
The search was conducted in presence of an Executive Magistrate across all 14 barracks and three blocks of the jail.
“No contraband, mobile communication devices, narcotics, extremist literature, or unauthorized electronic equipment were recovered from any area,” the officials said.
They added that several critical security gaps were observed, including low boundary wall height near the main road, lax frisking protocols for visitors, excessive inmate possessions (bedding/bags), and partial ineffectiveness of the mobile jammer in certain areas of the complex.
“The operational objectives were met, and specific feedback regarding the observed security vulnerabilities was shared immediately with the Jail Superintendent for urgent action,” the officials said.
Meanwhile, in continuation of the intensified crackdown for the second consecutive day following the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, Rajouri Police have detained several suspects from different areas of the district for questioning.
The operation, which began around 4 pm on Tuesday, continued through Wednesday, resulting in the detention of 25 individuals from Thannamandi, Darhal, Manjakote, Kalakote, Budhal, Palma and other adjoining areas of Rajouri.
Those detained reportedly include Over Ground Workers (OGWs) associated with terrorist networks, surrendered terrorists, and individuals previously arrested and later released in connection with past terror-related incidents. Police are conducting intensive interrogations to ascertain whether any of the detained suspects have links with the doctor allegedly involved in the recent Delhi blast.
Police sources further revealed that the ongoing scrutiny of individuals with known terrorist connections will continue in the coming days. Meanwhile, other security agencies, including the Indian Army, have been placed on high alert across Rajouri. Enhanced patrolling has been initiated in sensitive zones, and security has been tightened at all entry points.
Check posts along the Rajouri-Jammu-Poonch Highway are under heightened surveillance, with security forces thoroughly checking vehicles entering the city to ensure peace and prevent any untoward incident.
