2 brothers arrested for smuggling narcotics in Katra

KATRA, Nov 12: Police arrested two brothers for allegedly smuggling narcotics in the holy town Katra.
According to Police, a special naka was laid in the jurisdiction of Police Post Banganga at Balini Bridge to Banganga Link Road in view of enhanced security measures across the district. During the naka checking, two persons approaching from the Balini Bridge side on foot were stopped for questioning. Upon inquiry, they disclosed their identities as Shoket Ali, son of Mohd Sakhi, resident of Sirla Bagha, Reasi and his brother Mohd Rafiq – both operating a shop on the SMVD track.
On suspicion, both individuals were subjected to personal search, during which one transparent polypack containing approximately 3.58 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from Shoket Ali and another polypack containing 2.20 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from Mohd Rafiq, along with a used strip of 300 Pregabalin capsules. Subsequently, both the brothers were arrested.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 309/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and network of the contraband.
The entire operation was led by SHO Katra, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the supervision of SDPO Katra, dr Bhishm Dubey.
