JAMMU, Nov 11: The Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) has demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the incident involving SDPO Gandhi Nagar Sunil Singh Jasrotia and JKAS officer Azhar Khan that occurred last night in the Gandhi Nagar area.
Addressing a press conference near the Press Club of Jammu, YRS President Sanjeev Singh Rinku, accompanied by senior Sabha members and eyewitnesses, called for justice in the case.
They said the incident should not be seen as a personal dispute but as a matter of equality before the law.
Matador driver Chaman Lal Sharma, whose vehicle was involved in the initial collision with the JKAS officer’s Jeep, said the officer allegedly slapped him after a brief argument.
According to him, SDPO Jasrotia later reached the spot to settle the issue, which reportedly escalated into a heated altercation between the two officers.
Witness Vinay Jain, a local resident, confirmed that the SDPO had intervened to seek justice for the driver, but the situation worsened due to the JKAS officer’s alleged misbehaviour.
YRS President Sanjeev Singh questioned the immediate suspension of SDPO Jasrotia and urged that both sides be investigated fairly.
He described the officer as an honest and dedicated policeman known for his work against drugs, terrorism, and crime.
The YRS maintained that justice should not be influenced by status or wealth, stressing that both the driver and the officer deserve an unbiased inquiry.
The Sabha urged authorities to ensure that the case is handled transparently and that the truth comes to light.
