SRINAGAR, Nov 8: NC chief spokesperson, Tanvir Sadiq on Saturday participated in Asia-Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum in Sri Lanka.
During his session on ‘Safeguarding Public Spaces, Sadiq discussed the unique challenges faced by cities in South Asia, particularly those emerging from conflict and political transition.
“Urban resilience cannot be achieved in isolation. It must begin with addressing inequality, empowering local governance and ensuring people’s active participation in planning processes,” he said.
“Development must begin and end with people. Our cities must strive to be not just efficient but equitable and humane in how we treat our citizens,” he maintained commending the people of Sri Lanka for their resilience, humility and remarkable civic spirit, highlighting how they have continued to move forward with grace despite the challenges they have faced over the years.
Extending an invitation to the summit delegates and international participants, Sadiq urged them to visit J&K to experience the region’s unmatched beauty, rich culture and renowned hospitality.
He remarked: “Kashmir welcomes everyone with open arms. We want our friends from across the globe to come, explore and see themselves why it is truly called paradise on earth.” The NC leader further highlighted the vision under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s leadership to transform Srinagar into a world-class city.
