KATHUA, Nov 8: Kathua police has arrested Harnam Singh for cold blooded murder of his wife Banamti yesterday.
Police said Harnam Singh and his wife Banmati of Madhaya Pradesh who were putting up in Krishna Colony, Kathua were selling Gol- Gappa (water balls). Harnam beat his wife ruthlessly after having an altercation with her last night. Later he strangulated her to death and threw her body at the Railway crossing on Budhi road.
Police said the ill fated woman died on the spot after her husband who was deadly drunk strangulated her. Her minor child was weeping nearby her, it added.
The locals raised an alarm and informed the police. A team of Kathua police led by DySP Headquarters rushed to the spot. The police arrested her husband and took the dead body to GMC Kathua for postmortem.
Kathua police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law and started investigation.
