Two held for motorcycle theft

DODA, Nov 8: Police here today cracked a motorcycle theft case and arrested two accused persons involved in the crime.
On November 5, 2025, Police Station Assar received a written complaint from Omair Ullah Wani, son of Hadhayat Ullah Wani, who claimed that his motorcycle bearing registration number JK06A-6107 was missing from Jathi area.
Acting promptly, cops registered an FIR with number 37/2025 under Section 302(2) of BNS at Police Station Assar.
On the directions of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta, a special team led by PSI Shivam Dev Singh, under the supervision of DySP DAR Doda and SHO Police Station Assar was constituted to investigate the case.
During investigation, two suspects were detained on November 6 and they confessed their involvement in the theft and the stolen bike was recovered from their possession.
The accused were identified as Mohd Tariq, alias Baffer, son of Mohd Aslam, resident of Bhagtha, Katra, District Reasi and Munish Kumar, son of Mansa Ram, resident of Bali Chanalra, Bhalesa, District Doda.
Investigations revealed that Mohd Tariq was a habitual offender and absconder. He was involved in a series of thefts, burglaries and other offences under the IPC and NDPS Act and was evading arrest for a considerable period and was wanted in Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Kangra, Dharamshala, Nurpur and Shimla.
The Court has earlier issued a general warrant of arrest U/S 512 Cr.PC against him.
