Six more daily trains to resume operations by Dec

JAMMU, Nov 6: Due to ongoing repair work on damaged bridges and speed restrictions at various locations on the track following floods in last August, normal train traffic in Jammu Division will continue to remain hit till March-April 2026.

Northern Railway today issued a comprehensive list of long-term train cancellations, short terminations, and partial restorations impacting several major routes connected to Jammu, Katra and Udhampur.
According to Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, 22 trains will continue to remain cancelled till March- April 2026 while 16 other trains will remain short-terminated and short-originated during the period.
“The disruption has been necessitated by ongoing repair and restoration works on some critical bridges, particularly Bridge number 17 between Kathua-Madhopur, as well as due to Excess Engineering Restrictions,” he told the Excelsior.
An official order in this regard has been issued by the Northern Railway Headquarters, following the proposal by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Jammu.
The trains, which will remain cancelled till further orders, include ; 12207 JAT-KGM Garib Rath Express; 12208 KGM-JAT Garib Rath Express; 12209 CNB-KGM Garib Rath Express; 12210 KGM-CNB Garib Rath Express; 12265 DEE-JAT Duronto Express; 12266 JAT-DEE Duronto Express; 14503 Kalka-SVDK Express; 14504 SVDK-Kalka Express; 14611 Ghazipur City-SVDK Express; 14612 SVDK-Ghazipur City Express; 19107 Bhavnagar-Madhopur Janmabhoomi Express; 19108 Udhampur-Bhavnagar Express; 22401 Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Udhampur AC Express; 22402 Udhampur-Delhi Sarai Rohilla AC Express; 22431 SFG-Madhopur Express; 22432 Madhopur-SFG Express; 22439 New Delhi-SVDK Vande Bharat Express; 22440 SVDK-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express; 22705 Tirupati-Jammu Humsafar Express; 22706 Jammu-Tirupati Humsafar Express; 26405 Amritsar-SVDK Vande Bharat Express and 26406 SVDK-Amritsar Vande Bharat Express.
These trains will remain off track till the end of March or early April 2026, depending on the sector, said Uchit Singhal.
The trains, which will operate partially up to specified stations till completion of bridge works, include 12549 Durg-MCTM SF Express ( will remain short terminated at Jalandhar); 12550 MCTM -Durg SF Express (remain short originating from Jalandhar); 19223 Sabarmati-Jammu Express (remain short-terminating at Firozpur); 19224 Jammu-Sabarmati Express (remain short originating ex-Firozpur); 19415 Sabarmati-SVDK Express (remain short-terminated at Amritsar); 19416 SVDK-Sabarmati Express ( remain short originating ex-Amritsar); 20433/20434 SFG-SVDK Jammu Mail ( remain short terminating /originating at Ambala); 20847/20848 Durg-MCTM SF Express ( remain short terminating /originating at Ambala); 20985/20986 Kota-MCTM Weekly Express (remain short terminating /originating at Ludhiana); 22941/22942 Indore-Udhampur Express (remain short terminating /originating at JRC; 14803/14804 Jodhpur-Jammu Express ( remain short terminating /originating at Pathankot).
Meanwhile, according to the Northern Railway, a pair of three daily trains is all set to be restored by December 2025 in the seventh phase .
These trains are ; 14661/14662 Barmer-Jammu Shalimar Malani Express ; 22461/22462 Shri Shakti Express between NDLS-SVDK and 74906/74907 MCTM -Pathankot DMU services .
These trains are lying cancelled so far since August 26, 2025, following heavy rains, flash floods and consequent damages to Railway track and bridges, including Bridge number -17 (between Kathua and Madhopur), Bridge number 163 (between Udhampur and Chak Rakwal), Bridge number- 137 (between Ghagwal and Hiranagar), Bridge number- 232 ( between Pathankot and Cant Kandrori).
Pertinent to mention that in the first six phases in last two months, almost eighty percent train traffic has been restored in Jammu Division and most of the trains, which will remain cancelled till March-April 2026, are weekly or fortnightly.
