SAMBA, Nov 6: As a part of its relentless effort against drug peddlers/smugglers, Samba Police has attached a single storey residential house and a cattle shed valuing approximately Rs 53.66 lakh belonging to notorious drug peddler namely Mohd. Baru, son of Mohd. Yousaf of Laswara, tehsil, Bishnah district Jammu presently residing at Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana district Samba.
Police said the action was taken under Sections 68-E read with 68-F of NDPS Act of 1985 and is linked with case FIR No.52/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act of PS Bari Brahmana.
The residential house and cattle shed were identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/inquiry conducted by police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances by the drug peddler, police said.
It said moreover, an amount of Rs.16,58,660.00 was also recovered and seized from the accused in case FIR No. 52/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act of PS Bari Brahmana.
The total value of property identified as illegally acquired stands at Rs. 53.66 lakh and recovery of cash of Rs. 16,58,660.00 making a total of Rs. 70 lac approximately, police said.
It said the accused is a notorious drug peddler actively involved in smuggling and supplying of narcotics and involved in 12 criminal cases registered against him at Police Stations, Bari Brahmana and Ghagwal of district Samba and PS Bishnah of district Jammu including three NDPS cases presently under trial.
The operation was carried out by the police team headed by SHO PS Bari Brahmana under the supervision of SDPO, Bari Brahmana and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba.
