Addressing a press conference in Jammu on Wednesday, said that the trust shown by residents across all four blocks including Dansal, Nagrota, Bhalwal, and Mathwar has strengthened his resolve to work even harder for their development and dignity
Anil Sharma noted that despite being the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir, Nagrota has faced years of neglect, with poor infrastructure, limited job opportunities, and weak basic amenities. He said the innocent people of all four blocks of the constituency continue to face irregular water supply, erratic electricity, and broken roads. Sharma promised to address these issues on a war footing.
Referring to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent statement in the J & K Legislative Assembly about establishing a National Law University, Sharma said the best location would be within the Nagrota Assembly Constituency. “Nagrota deserves this recognition as it lies on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and connects multiple districts of Jammu,” he added.
He told media that around 80 percent of people who interacted with him during his campaign, especially women and elderly villagers, complained about the scarcity of clean drinking water. “People allege that the Jal Jeevan Mission has become a source of corruption, and on the ground, it has failed to deliver the desired results,” he added.
Reiterating his developmental blueprint as mentioned in his election manifesto, Sharma said his vision is based on modern infrastructure, youth empowerment, women’s welfare, and people-centric growth. He pledged uninterrupted electricity, clean drinking water, all-weather roads, and the creation of a multi-specialty healthcare centre in the constituency.
Highlighting Nagrota’s immense potential in religious and adventure tourism, Sharma said, “Nagrota can become a model constituency. He added that the boundaries of Nagrota constituency touch four districts including Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, and Reasi, and there is huge potential for the area to be developed as a business circuit as well.
He called upon the local youth, to rise above divisive politics and support a movement built on development, dignity, and transparency. “My politics is not about promises but performance ,” he affirmed.
