DODA, OCTOBER 30: District Magistrate Harvinder Singh today chaired the District level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee meeting to review and strengthen drug control measures in the district.
The meeting was convened by SSP Sandeep Mehta and attended by government functionaries from all stakeholder departments.
Detailed discussions were held on ground impact of anti-narcotic and law-enforcement measures, besides awareness campaigns and other preventive strategies, with a special focus on protecting youth from substance abuse.
The District Magistrate stressed the need to strengthen community engagement and coordinated action to achieve visible outcomes on the ground. He directed officers to organize interactions between civil society and educational institutions under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to sensitize communities about the ill effects of drug abuse. He further instructed SDMs to inspect CCTV installations at pharmaceutical outlets within their jurisdictions to ensure strict monitoring and compliance.
The SSP informed about the surveillance measures and crackdown launched on drug peddlers by the police. He directed Block-level officers to geo-tag hotspots of wild cannabis growth and coordinate with allied departments for its systematic destruction.
Officers were also instructed to submit daily progress reports on anti-cannabis drives and step up Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities in the district to create a sustained deterrence against drug abuse.
The meeting was attended by the ADC, ACD, Principal GDC Doda, CEO, CAO and officers from the Excise, Police and Health departments. SDMs, Tehsildars and BDOs joined the meeting virtually.
