JAMMU, Oct 28: The Central Library of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu has been ranked second at the International Conference on AI in Libraries.
The International Conference on Changing Landscape of Science & Technology Libraries (CLSTL 2025): Enhancing Library Experiences with Artificial Intelligence, was held recently, at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The library team guided by Prof R K Samnotra, University Librarian, was awarded the second prize in the poster presentation category, highlighting innovative contributions to the evolving role of AI in library services vis-à-vis Ranganathan’s Five Laws of Library Science.
“Participating in CLSTL 2025 has equipped us with invaluable insights to further elevate our services, ensuring SKUAST Jammu’s library remains at the forefront of AI-enhanced learning and research,” said the University Librarian.
The conference brought together speakers/ participants from library science, information researchers, and technology experts from around the globe including USA, Germany, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia etc to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming science and technology libraries. Themes included innovative management strategies, emerging tools for research support, and addressing contemporary challenges in AI adoption. The event featured keynote addresses, workshops, and interactive sessions, providing a platform for exchanging best practices and envisioning the future of library ecosystems.
Representing SKUAST Jammu, the Central Library delegate Dr Asha Rani, Sr Library Assistant showcased a compelling poster presentation that delved into the theme around AI applications in Libraries for enhancing user experiences in agricultural and allied sciences libraries based on Five Laws of Dr S R Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. Their work emphasized AI-driven tools for resource discovery, personalized recommendations, and data analytics to support research and extension services. This recognition not only validates the library’s forward-thinking initiatives but also positions SKUAST Jammu as a leader in integrating cutting-edge technology into academic support systems.
