JAMMU, Oct 27: Anoop Sharma, faculty member at the School of Architecture and Landscape Design, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), represented India at the SDEWES-20 Scientific Conference held in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
A statement said that the six-day event, organized in October 2025, brought together 785 scientists and researchers from 68 countries to discuss innovations in sustainable development.
Anoop was among only six participants from India, the others being from premier IITs. He received a special discounted registration scholarship worth 950 Euros-granted to just one researcher per country-and his travel was partially supported under the Government of India’s ANRF (formerly SERB) ITS scheme. SMVDU also extended financial assistance through its PDA scheme.
During the conference, Anoop presented his research on sustainable built environments, highlighting cost-effective and resource-conscious design approaches aligned with the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s water mission goals.
His presentation received appreciation and earned him the opportunity to chair one of the technical sessions at the global event.
On his return, Anoop shared his experiences with students and faculty at SMVDU, sparking interactive discussions on sustainable design.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated him for bringing international recognition to the university, while colleagues and students lauded his achievement.
Anoop expressed gratitude to the SMVDU administration for its support and said the exposure would open new avenues for collaboration and research in the field of architecture.
