SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Oct 24: On the birth anniversary of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today paid rich tribute to the revered nationalist leader, fondly remembered as Sher-e-Duggar.
Led by its National General Secretary and Prabhari of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh, Tarun Chugh, senior BJP leaders garlanded the portrait of Pt Premnath Dogra at the party office in Srinagar. Sat Sharma, J&K BJP President; Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization); Dr Shehnaz Ganai, Anwar Khan were among the senior party leaders who paid heartfelt tribute on the occasion. Tarun Chugh said, “Pt Premnath Dogra was an institution of national integration and selfless service. His unwavering struggle for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’ became the moral compass of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and continues to inspire the BJP today.”
Chugh underlined that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi Government was the realization of Pt Dogra’s life-long dream and the ultimate tribute to his steadfast commitment to national unity. He said that Pt Dogra’s deep connect with the common people and his dedication to the upliftment of every section of society remain a guiding light for inclusive politics in Jammu & Kashmir.
Sat Sharma, in his message, described Pandit Prem Nath Dogra as a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in spearheading the Praja Parishad movement and the agitation for “Ek Pradhan, Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan,” which ultimately achieved success. He said that Pandit Ji devoted his entire life with sincerity and dedication toward the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the nation. His long-cherished dream, Sharma said, has been realized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ashok Koul stated that Pandit Ji exemplified a life of high moral values and strong conviction. He led the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement with unwavering determination, resulting in the abolition of the separate post of Prime Minister in J&K.
In Jammu, MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Baldev Singh Billawaria and other senior party leaders, performed a Hawan and paid floral tributes to the statue of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra at Dogra Chowk.
Jugal Kishore Sharma highlighted the towering personality and accomplishments of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, describing him as one of the greatest leaders of his era who led the historic Praja Parishad Movement for full integration of J&K with India.
Sanjita Dogra urged party workers to emulate the life and principles of Pandit Ji by serving the people and the nation with dedication and selflessness.
Baldev Singh Billawaria emphasized the enduring significance of Pandit Ji’s ideology, which laid the foundation for the complete unification of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union.
