POONCH, Oct 22: The District Administration and District Police in Poonch today observed the Police Commemoration Day 2025 at the Parade Ground, District Police Lines (DPL) Poonch, paying tribute to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The event was attended by DDC Chairperson Tazim Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma, SSP Shafket Hussain Bhat, other officers, police personnel, and families of the martyrs.
A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Martyrs’ Memorial, followed by the reading of the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the past year.
The DDC Chairperson, Deputy Commissioner, and SSP garlanded the memorial and paid floral tributes to the departed heroes.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Sharma lauded the courage and dedication of the police personnel, while SSP Bhat commended their selfless service and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to supporting martyrs’ families.
The ceremony concluded with an emotional interaction with the families of the martyrs, highlighting the police department’s enduring respect, gratitude, and commitment towards their welfare.
