Seven arrested as J&K Police solve three murder cases in Jammu Distt

Two drug networks busted; 4 women among 8 held

JAMMU, Oct 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) have recently solved three murder cases in the district, including a blind murder initially projected as a natural death, the killing of a minor boy in Sunjwan, and a gruesome murder at Simbal Camp area in Miran Sahib.
They have also busted two major drug networks by arresting 8 drug peddlers, including four women, and recovering over 500 grams of heroin worth crores in the market from their possession.

Sharing details during a press conference here, SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh said that in one of the cases, Police Station Bahu Fort, under South Zone, unearthed a blind murder that was initially shown as a natural death.
Acting on a complaint lodged nearly a month after the incident by the relatives of the deceaed, he said, police discovered that the victim, Simriti Sunwar, had allegedly been killed by her husband, Tej Pal Singh, who hurriedly cremated her body to destroy the evidence.
After registering a case under FIR number 286/2025 at Police Station Bahu Fort, the SSP Jammu said that the scientific analysis and examination of the witness led to the arrest of the accused within a day of receiving the complaint.
The District Police Chief said, in another swift action, Police Post Bathindi solved the murder of a minor boy within hours of its reporting.
According to him, on October 10, a resident of Rahimabad, Bathindi, reported that his son, Mohammad Zubair, was found murdered in the Sunjwan-Gaziabad area.
The suspect in the case, Mansoor Alam, also from Rahimabad, was arrested shortly after, following his confession during questioning, he said.
The police officer said that a case in this connection was registered under FIR number 299/2025 at Police Station Bahu Fort, and further investigation was set into motion.
In a separate incident, he said, a team from Police Station Miran Sahib cracked a brutal murder case in Simbal Camp area, arresting five members of the same family.
The case, registered under FIR number 133/2025 over some debt related issues pertained to the killing of one Narinder Singh, who was fatally assaulted by two brothers, Tanveer Singh and Bavneet Singh, along with three other family members.
Acting on multiple leads, the SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, said the police apprehended all the five accused-including the two price suspects and their parents and sister.
The SSP Jammu commended all the senior police officers and investigating teams for their diligence, coordination, and effective use of technology in solving all three cases swiftly.
He reaffirmed Jammu and Kashmir Police’s commitment to maintaining peace, ensuring justice, and upholding the rule of law across the district.
Sharing details related to the busting of the drug networks, the SSP Jammu said in Bahu Fort area, a heroin supply chain was recently unearthed and five persons, including three women were arrested.
Acting on reliable information, he said, a team from Police Post Narwal detained one Vishal Kumar of Rajeev Nagar near Wave Mall and recovered 275 grams of heroin and a weighing machine from his possession.
During questioning, the detained individual disclosed that he had procured the contraband from a woman identified as Reena of Rajeev Nagar, the SSP Jammu said.
He added that a subsequent search at her residence led to the recovery of 55 grams of heroin, another weighing machine, and Rs 33, 490 in cash.
In further investigation, the District Police Chief said, three more women-Sheetal Devi, Payal, and Kajal, all residents of Rajeev Nagar-were arrested in forward linkage with the recovery of 13 grams of heroin, two weighing machines, and Rs 3,050 in cash.
All five accused were taken into custody, and further investigations set into motion to trace their supply chain, he said.
In another successful operation, the SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, said, a team from RS Pura Police Station arrested three drug peddlers from the Chak Talab area and recovered 186 grams of heroin from their possession.
The accused were identified as Inderjeet and Vishal Kumar, both from Batala in Punjab and currently residing in Chak Talab and Jagdish Raj of RS Pura.
He said a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station RS Pura in connection with this case and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the SSP Jammu said that the police in Jammu are fully prepared to ensure peaceful Diwali festivities and the ‘Darbar move’ next month.
He also asked the people to provide information about their tenants by filing up verification forms and also remain extra cautious by reporting the presence of any unclaimed object in the markets.
“As far as threat is concerned, you all know that we have been fighting terrorism for the past 30 to 35 years. The enemy (Pakistan) was defeated in five wars in the past but is still continuing its efforts to foment trouble by pushing terrorists and drugs and the situation demands us to stay alert to counter any conspiracy,” he said.
