Northern India Science Drama function held at DIET

JAMMU, Oct 18: The Northern India Science Drama (NSD) function 2025-26 was successfully organized on Saturday by the Educational Technology (ET) Wing of DIET Jammu. Hosted at Government Higher Secondary School, Nowabad, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all zones across the district.
Organized under the guidance of Dr. R.G. Dogra, Principal DIET Jammu, the competition aimed to foster scientific awareness and creativity among students through dramatization. The event was meticulously coordinated by the ET Wing team comprising Monika Kalsotra (HoD), Sonia Chowdhary (Sr. Lecturer), Amit Gupta, Charanjeet Kour and Amrit Pal Singh (Lecturers), with Pardeep Manhas (Lecturer, DIET Jammu) and Sourabh Bakshi (Teacher) serving as Technical Coordinators for the event.
The occasion was joined by Dr. Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT Jammu, as chief guest, along with Shadi Lal Gupta, Principal of the host institution. They applauded the initiative and encouraged students to continue exploring the intersection of science and performing arts.
In her address, Dr. Sindhu Kapoor commended the outstanding efforts of the participating teams and the organizing committee. She emphasized that such events play a crucial role in nurturing scientific thinking, creativity, and communication skills among students. She appreciated the dedication of the ET Wing and the technical coordinators for ensuring the smooth conduct of the program.
As a token of gratitude, the dignitaries were felicitated with bouquets and mementos.
The central theme for NSD 2025-26 was “Science and Technology for the Benefit of Mankind”, with sub-themes including Women in Science, Smart Agriculture, Empowering Lives, Hygiene for All, and Green Technologies. The student teams presented innovative and thought-provoking dramas highlighting how science and technology transform lives and address real-world challenges.
The performances were judged by a distinguished panel comprising Yogita Sharma (Principal), Seema Puri (Senior Lecturer), and Sanjay Sharma (Retired Headmaster), who commended the participants for their creativity, teamwork, and impactful storytelling.
Addressing the gathering, R.G. Dogra lauded the efforts of the ET Wing and the participating schools, remarking, “The integration of science and art through such platforms not only fosters creativity but also nurtures scientific temper among students,” he added.
