JAMMU, Oct 17: The Jammu City branch of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) celebrated World Anaesthesia Day with great enthusiasm, combining academic spirit with cultural vibrancy.
Around 150 faculty members, postgraduate students, and anesthesiologists from across Jammu participated in the event, paying rich tribute to the pioneers of anaesthesia who revolutionized medical care.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr Ashwani Kumar, president, ISA Jammu, followed by Dr Anita Vig, Professor and Head, Department of Anesthesiology, GMC Jammu, who underscored the vital role of anesthesiologists in ensuring patient safety and the smooth conduct of surgeries.
Among the distinguished guests present on the occasion were Dr D S Charak, Dr Satyadev Gupta, Dr Gurmeet Singh Reen, Dr Mukta Jitendra, Dr Anju Jamwal, Dr Sangeeta Singh, Dr Ranbhushan Singh, Dr Arun Arora, Dr Satish Badyal, Dr Sunaina Gupta, Dr Vanilla Chopra, Dr Pankaj Gupta, Dr Rajesh Mahajan, Dr Madan Lal Katoch, Dr Renu Wakhloo and several others who graced the celebration.
The event featured a colourful cultural programme including dance, music, fun quizzes, and skits performed by postgraduate students and faculty members, adding a lively and festive touch to the proceedings. Dr Updesh Kumar, general secretary and cultural secretary, ISA Jammu, highlighted the Society’s notable achievements during 2024-2025 and proudly announced that this marked the first-ever Cultural Day organized by ISA Jammu since its inception in 1993.
On the occasion, several distinguished contributors were felicitated for their exemplary services. Dr Mukta Jitendra received the JSA Lifetime Achievement Award while Dr Rajesh Mahajan, Dr Raksha Kundal, Dr Rohit Lahori and Dr Madhan Kumar Ramachandran were presented with JSA Appreciation Awards. Dr Laughi Bhan was honoured with the JSA Public Awareness Award and Dr Aneesha Gupta received the JSA Young Talent Award.
