JAMMU, Oct 16: All Daily Wagers Jammu Kashmir Sangarsh Samiti today staged a strong protest demonstration for release of pending wages of Mali-cum-Chowkidars in the Rural Development Department.
The protesting daily wagers appealed Lt Government Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene into the matter and ensure that pending wages of Mali-cum-Chowkidars for the last more than 20 years are released.
The protesting workers were carrying placards in their hands and were shouting slogans in support of their demand for the release of pending wages.
Shahnawaz Zargar, president of Mali-cum-Chowkidar Sangarsh Samiti, was leading the protest demonstration.
Talking to media persons on the occasion, Mr Zargar said that their wages were pending since 2004 and despite repeated plea to the Director Rural Development Department, the case file was not being forward to the administrative department in the Civil Secretariat.
He warned that if their case of pending wages is not settled by October 29, all daily wagers and workers will resort to indefinite ‘Kaam Chorh Hartal’.
The Director had assured us that the case file of pending wages would be submitted by August, but even after two months since the deadline, there has been no positive signal from those at the helm of affairs,” he said.
