JAMMU, Oct 14: All J&K Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) has said that it will fully cooperate with the administration in regulating e-autorikshaws in Jammu city.
Talking to media-persons here today, chairman of the Association, Karan Singh Wazir said that Transport authorities Jammu and the District Administration have now been dealing with the menace created by the e-rikshaws with regard to their routes, adding traffic congestion. He said the Association took up the issue with the Regional Transport authorities several times during last 2-3 years.
Wazir said due to undefined routes of these e-rikshaws, a mess has been created in the city. The Jammu city is already facing traffic congestion for the last several years. And with the addition of more and more e-autorikshaws on the daily basis, the city roads are getting congested. Moreover, there are no defined stands of these autos.
In view of the efforts of the District Administration and Transport authorities to introduce new routes with different colored e-rikshaws, the AJKTWA has decided to cooperate with the administration. The administration should also fully involve their representatives while taking such decisions. The consent of the stake holders and technical issues are needed to be thoroughly discussed while taking decision with regard to routes, he added.
Wazir said the Government should also look into the other burning issues of the transporters and operators, with regard to unnecessary harassment of drivers/ operators through e-challans by Traffic police, unnecessary stoppage of the vehicles on the highways, hike in passenger fare etc, already discussed on several occasions.
President of the Association Vijay Singh Chib also spoke on the occasion and shared his views on the problems being faced by the transporters and urgent need of streamlining the traffic system in Jammu city.
