JAMMU, Oct 14: Private Schools functioning in the winter zone of Jammu division have resented the Government order for conduct of Summative Assessment / Annual Examination of class 8th.
Talking to media persons, members of J&K Private School Association said that the School Education Department was in deep sleep to formulate policy regarding the timely conduct of exams and declaration of results before the commencement of new academic session in Winter Zone.
“In previous academic year due to the restoration of previous academic calendar all exams from class 1st to 9th of schools functioning in winter zone were conducted between the months of November to December 2024. Now the abrupt circulation of Government order for declaring result of class 8th before October 25, 2025 of all schools functioning in winter zone is big mockery and not justified,” they added.
President of the Association, Ajay Gupta explained that within two or three days in Jammu division all schools will observe Pooja Holidays at least for five days and in such circumstances conducting of Summative Assessment / Annual Examination of class 8th and declaration of result by or before October 25th will lose the sanctity of examination and seems to be a big foul play with the education system.
He appealed to the Secretary School Education, Ram Niwas Sharma to kindly issue direction to the Director School Education Jammu regarding the withdrawal of schedule which he has circulated vide notification No DSEJ/ GEN/ 50477-504 dated October13,2025 regarding the conduct of exams w.e.f. October 17,2025 of the students studying in Government as well as private schools of the winter zone of Jammu Division.
The Association members unanimously demanded a fresh date sheet for Class 8th Annual Examination (WZ) in the month of November as done by the JKBOSE for conducting the exams of Classes 10th, 11th and 12th (W/Z).
Members who spoke in the press conference included Siddheshwar Sadotra, Thomas Oommen, Rakesh Gupta, Manoj Kumar Sharma, Shakti Sharma, Kuldeep Choudhary, Vineet Gupta, Pankaj Kerni, Prashant Salaria and Ankush Verma.
